Personal Financial Planning
Good financial decisions start with a clear picture of where you stand. We help individuals and families plan for retirement, education, home ownership and other goals, always with the tax consequences in view.
How Nelson & Associates handles Personal Financial Planning
Financial planning brings together income, spending, savings, debt, insurance, taxes and goals. As CPAs, we focus on the parts where tax and cash flow matter most: how much to save and where, which retirement accounts to use, how to pay for education, how to handle stock options or a windfall, and how to draw income in retirement efficiently.
We provide objective guidance based on your situation. Where you need investment management or insurance products, we coordinate with licensed professionals of your choice so the plan works as a whole.

Personal Financial Planning FAQs
5 answers to the questions clients ask most. Don’t see yours? Ask us directly.
Do you manage investments?
Our planning focuses on tax, cash flow and goals. For investment selection and management, we coordinate with a licensed adviser of your choice.
Should I contribute to a Roth or traditional account?
It depends on your current tax bracket compared with your expected bracket in retirement. We model both for your situation.
What is the Florida homestead exemption?
It reduces the taxable value of your primary residence for property tax purposes and limits annual assessment increases. You apply with your county property appraiser.
How often should my plan be reviewed?
At least once a year and whenever you have a major life change such as marriage, a new child, a job change or a move.
Do you offer Personal Financial Planning outside Florida?
Yes. Our office is in Doral, Florida, and we work with clients across the United States and abroad through secure uploads, phone and video meetings and e-signatures. South Florida clients are welcome to meet with us in person.
