Our story

From a Miami CPA firm to an independent practice with international reach

Yamila Nelson spent eleven years with a prestigious CPA firm in Miami before launching her own independent accounting firm in October 2005. Since then, Nelson & Associates has become one of Miami’s leading CPA firms, with a network of professionals, businesses and international clients.

Our client portfolio includes families, small businesses, attorneys, corporations and governmental agencies that needed expertise in domestic and international taxation, financial reporting and business consultation. Yamila has also served as a consultant and expert witness for federal courts in matters involving fraud, corruption, money laundering and tax evasion.

In 2010 we began a professional collaboration with a public accounting firm in Mexico City to support clients with commercial relationships between Mexico and the United States. Today we serve clients across all 50 states, Latin America and Europe from our office in Doral.

Meet your CPA

Yamila Nelson, CPA, CGMA

A licensed Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant in Florida, with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida International University and a Master of Accounting from St. Thomas University, specializing in taxation with a minor in fraud forensics.

With more than 20 years of experience in tax consultation, accounting and auditing, she has advised multinational companies throughout the United States, Europe and Latin America.

Nelson & Associates CPA, PA is a full-service certified public accounting firm licensed in Florida. All our CPAs hold valid Florida CPA certificates.

We serve clients outside Florida under the practice privileges available to CPAs licensed in another state, and we represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service nationwide as permitted for CPAs under Treasury Department Circular 230. Some attest services for clients outside Florida may be subject to additional state requirements, which we confirm before accepting an engagement.
