Payroll Services

Payroll has to be right, on time, every time. We run payroll, file every federal and Florida payroll report and keep you out of the penalties that come with late deposits.

Overview

How Nelson & Associates handles Payroll Services

Payroll tax mistakes are among the most expensive errors a business can make, because withheld taxes belong to your employees and the IRS treats unpaid amounts seriously. Our payroll service handles the calculations, deposits and filings so you can focus on running the business.

We set up new employees, process regular and off-cycle payrolls, file quarterly Forms 941 and the Florida reemployment tax report, and prepare W-2s and 1099s at year end. For restaurants and salons, we track tips correctly and help you claim the FICA tip credit.

Who this is for

  • Businesses hiring their first employee
  • Companies with hourly, salaried and tipped staff
  • Restaurants, salons and hospitality businesses
  • S corporation owners paying themselves a salary

Questions

Payroll Services FAQs

6 answers to the questions clients ask most. Don’t see yours? Ask us directly.

Ask a question

Does Florida have a state income tax on wages?

No, so there is no Florida income tax withholding. Florida employers do pay reemployment (unemployment) tax and file quarterly RT-6 reports.

When are payroll taxes due?

Deposits are due monthly or semiweekly depending on your deposit schedule. Form 941 is filed quarterly and W-2s are due to employees and the Social Security Administration by January 31.

Can you handle employees in other states?

Yes. We register and withhold for employees who live or work in states that tax wages.

What if I'm switching providers mid-year?

We import year-to-date totals so your W-2s and quarterly filings stay accurate.

Do you pay S corporation owners?

Yes. We set up reasonable compensation for owner-employees and handle health insurance and retirement reporting on their W-2s.

Do you offer Payroll Services outside Florida?

Yes. Our office is in Doral, Florida, and we work with clients across the United States and abroad through secure uploads, phone and video meetings and e-signatures. South Florida clients are welcome to meet with us in person.
